Dental crown and bridges, both are fixed prosthetic devices to replace missing teet. Unlike dentures which you can take out daily to clean, they are cemented on existing teeth or implants, and can only be removed by a dentist. If you have a tooth cavity, a crown might be the better option. But if you have missing teeth then bridge is the better choice.

A dental bridge fills in the space due to one or more missing teeth, while a crown which also referred to as a cap covers the entire tooth. Their general purpose is to restore a tooth or teeth back to full chewing function and enhance your appearance and improve your oral health.

Is it painful to get a dental crown or bridge?

Crown and bridge process is not painful at all as it is performed with local anesthesia to numb the area. However, the patient may experience some discomfort or sensitivity during or after the process, which can be managed with pain relief medication.

Can a crown and bridge last a lifetime?

Mostly crowns and bridges will last for several years but the you must do oral care, ie. brushing and flossing two times per day, eating the right foods, and scheduling regular checkups. By taking these precautions you can extend the life expectancy of your crown and bridge.
